Some of the Ways in Which One Can Speed Up the Labour

One of the things that is the most unpredictable is labour. Many women worry that they will not be able to make it to the hospital on time during their pregnancy. Plus, it can happen that you find yourself in a totally contradicting situation, i.e., your labour is moving very slowly. If you are having slow labour or stalled labour, there can be a high need for medical intervention like caesarean or c-section. But there are many methods which can help you with your labour in the first stage or can help you to speed up labour if it is not progressing. There are many women who have this query as to how to speed up early labour. Some of the ways, in which you can speed up your early labour, those ways are as follows:

Standing & Walking-

The first and foremost method of speeding up labour is to stand or walk. The main advantage of standing during such a time is gravity, which assists in increasing the pressure on the area of the cervix and supports your baby’s coming into the pelvis. If you are able to get up and walk during the labour, you will receive an additional merit for the movement. The fact is that women, who are standing upright and also moving around during this hour, i.e., labour, mostly have a shorter labour. They also report less pain and less intervention and are more smug (satisfied) with their experience of birth. Several women are there who have found out that rocking or dancing or swaying reduces their pain.

Breast Movements-

Then, another possible method of speeding up labour is breast stimulation. This releases oxytocin into the bloodstream, which is responsible for bringing contractions. You can stimulate your nipples or you can also manually do it to bring on the labour. Apart from that, some pressure techniques are also there which can be used, like acupressure or massage, which will help in speeding up the stalled labour. You can easily relax with the help of a general massage that will reduce your pain, or you can also look for a change of pace. There are specific techniques that are there in acupressure that can hit the buttons that permit your body to produce more oxytocin as well, thereby increasing the contractions.

Change of Positions-

This technique can be done by an acupressure specialist or with the help of a birth doula who has special training. You can also talk with your therapist, masseur, or acupuncturist to see if they can provide any helpful suggestions that you can use. The next best technique that you can use is changing positions. If the position of your baby is slowing down the progression of the labour, then you need to change the position to make it easy for them to get the best state or position for moving through the pelvis as labour progresses. In some cases, medical intervention can also be needed, though doctors avoid such medical intervention unless it is needed for the health of the baby. If your labour has slowed down, then it may be possible that medical intervention may be needed, which is the best decision for you and your baby.
